What we can support you with:

  • Hot flashes are one of the most common and disruptive symptoms experienced by women during perimenopause and menopause or following cancer treatment. While they are easily recognized by most women experiencing them, some may be surprised at phenomena such as heart racing, anxiety or insomnia that can accompany hot flashes. At Bloom, we offer a range of treatment options to help manage hot flashes, including hormonal therapies, lifestyle modifications, and alternative treatments such as acupuncture and herbal supplements. We work with you to develop a personalized plan to reduce the frequency and severity of hot flashes, helping you regain comfort and control over your life.

  • Insomnia is one of the most common conditions in midlife. While the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia is nonpharmacologic, namely Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) - most patients with insomnia get offered medications first and never learn how to interrupt the conditions that perpetuate their continued dissatisfaction with sleep. We will do a full sleep assessment, review all the mechanisms that may contribute to poor sleep and offer the full range of treatments and supportive options to get you to sleep soundly again. Using CBT-I, mindfulness, natural products in addition to ruling out contributing medical conditions. Take back control of your sleep quality - yes, even if you have not slept through the night since 1998.

  • Fatigue is exceedingly common among women in midlife, especially during perimenopause and menopause, as well as by those undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment. Unlike ordinary tiredness, fatigue is a persistent feeling of exhaustion that doesn't improve with rest. This condition can significantly impact your quality of life, making daily activities feel overwhelming. Our practice offers comprehensive evaluations to determine the underlying causes of your fatigue, which may include hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, or side effects from cancer treatments. We then develop personalized treatment plans to help restore your energy levels and improve your overall well-being.

  • Brain fog is a term used to describe feelings of confusion, forgetfulness, and lack of focus and mental clarity. This symptom is often reported by women experiencing hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause, as well as by those undergoing chemotherapy. Brain fog can affect your ability to work, manage daily tasks, and enjoy life. At Bloom Integrative Medicine, we utilize a holistic approach to address brain fog, which includes hormonal assessments, cognitive assessments, dietary recommendations, and stress management techniques. Our goal is to help you regain confidence in your cognitive abilities.

  • Joint pain can be a debilitating symptom for many women in midlife, often associated with hormonal changes or as a side effect of certain cancer treatments such as Aromatase Inhibitors. This pain can limit your mobility and interfere with your daily activities. We provide a comprehensive approach to managing joint pain, including diagnostic evaluations to identify the causes or contributors, personalized exercise goals, nutritional support, and pain management strategies, including supplements and mind body therapies. Our aim is to reduce your discomfort and improve your joint function, allowing you to maintain an active and fulfilling lifestyle.

  • Weight management becomes increasingly important and challenging for many women during perimenopause and menopause, as well as for cancer survivors. Hormonal changes, metabolic shifts, and the effects of cancer treatments can all contribute to weight gain or difficulty losing weight. Strategies that may have worked during other stages in life may suddenly not work at all. At Bloom Integrative Medicine we offer tailored weight management programs that include nutritional counseling, physical activity guidance, and behavioral support. We focus on sustainable, healthy habits that help you achieve and maintain your ideal weight while enhancing your overall health and vitality. We also discuss medication support as needed for your care.

  • Anxiety and reduced stress resilience can be a significant issue for women in midlife, particularly during the hormonal transitions of perimenopause and menopause. Chronic illness and cancer can contribute to significant surges of anxiety and stress. Often this can manifest as persistent worry, restlessness, and physical symptoms such as a racing heart. Our team offers comprehensive care for anxiety, mind-body therapies, stress management techniques, and, when appropriate, the use of natural products. We work with you to develop coping strategies and interventions that reduce anxiety and improve your quality of life.

  • Undergoing chemotherapy can be a physically and emotionally immensely challenging experience. Our practice provides extensive support for patients undergoing chemotherapy, aimed at managing side effects and enhancing overall well-being. We offer nutritional counseling to help you maintain strength and energy, pain management strategies, and stress management. Bloom's holistic approach ensures that you receive comprehensive care to mitigate the adverse effects of chemotherapy and support your journey through cancer treatment.

  • Life after cancer presents its own set of challenges and uncertainties. Patients sometimes perceive the end of active cancer treatments as "falling out of care". In the words of one of my patients: " The doctors did a great job at saving my life - but there seems to be little interest in my quality of life from here on out!". Let's change that! Bloom's cancer survivorship care program is designed to support you in your transition from treatment to recovery and beyond. We provide regular follow-ups to monitor your health, manage any lingering side effects, and address concerns related to recurrence. Our services also include lifestyle and dietary guidance, and preventive care to help you maintain your health and well-being as a cancer survivor.

  • Navigating the world of herbs and supplements can be overwhelming, especially when dealing with a frightening diagnosis, complex health conditions or unrelenting symptoms. Bloom Integrative Medicine offers specialized consultations to help you understand the benefits and risks of various herbs and supplements. We provide evidence-based recommendations tailored to your individual health needs, whether you're looking to alleviate menopausal symptoms, support cancer treatment, or enhance your overall wellness. Our goal is to ensure that any supplements you take are safe, effective, and compatible with your overall treatment plan.

  • Preventive care is essential for maintaining long-term health and preventing the onset of disease. The hormonal transitions in midlife offer a window of opportunity to reduce the risks for cardiovascular, cognitive and musculoskeletal disease in the decades to come. At Bloom, we emphasize the importance of proactive laboratory testing, regular check-ups, screenings, and detailed lifestyle modifications to keep you healthy and catch any potential issues early. We offer comprehensive preventive care services, including hormonal assessments, early cancer screenings, and personalized wellness plans. By focusing on prevention, we aim to help you prolong your health span and reduce your risk of chronic conditions.

Midlife stressors, life with chronic illness or cancer recovery often present symptom-needs and preventive care concerns that go unaddressed. Competent perimenopausal - and menopause care is essential to living midlife fully and paving the way for the coming decades of life.

During and after cancer treatment we offer an expanded toolkit of conventional therapies and evidence-supported Integrative- and Lifestyle Medicine to meet these needs comprehensively.
